2007 SOUTH JERSEY SHARK TOURNEY: HEAVIEST BLUE SHARK CAUGHT WITH NEW GULP! CHUM
SPIRIT LAKE, Iowa (June 13, 2007) – Capt. Brian Perry, Pure Fishing Territory Manager, and the crew of Sweetie caught the heaviest blue shark during the 2007 South Jersey Shark Tournament, June 8-9 on Cape May, N.J. Perry’s blue shark weighed in at 261 pounds and was one of 116 mako and 101 blue sharks caught by tournament field, which included 223 of the nation’s top shark hunters.
"At one point, we looked in the water and saw a big blue shark circling the Gulp! Alive Chum bag and I tried to feed the shark for the next five minutes everything under the sun (Bluefish fillets, mackerel, and bunker chum). But he would eat nothing," said Perry. "Finally, I took the Gulp! Alive Chum bag off the line it was hanging from, put the hook right in the bag, tossed the line in the water and instantly the shark inhaled the entire chum bag, hook and all."
Added Perry: "We used the Gulp! Chum in addition to our regular Bunker chum. At times it was a frenzy of birds, whales, porpoise and sharks all going crazy on the chum in the water."
Gulp! Alive Chum will be released to the public at the 2007 ICAST trade show in July. The Gulp! Alive Chum has proven its worth during several big-game fishing tournaments. The secret to this unbelievable chum is the exclusive Gulp! Chum formula, which disperses scent and flavor in a large cloud attracting baitfish and gamefish to the area.
